Pixel art has been an essential form of digital art used within video games since their creation, and it remains popular to this day. In this workshop, students will practice pixel art creation by customizing a two-dimensional sprite image (i.e. character) using the free software, Piskel. They will apply fundamentals of animation to the sprite image by referencing motion, altering pixels, and creating frames. With each step of their creative process, students will evolve their static graphic into a uniquely-crafted sprite animation.
