About the Course
Explore the entire filmmaking pipeline, from the first spark of an idea to the final cut on screen. In this camp, students will implement the three stages of Film production, building real technical and creative skills that mirror professional workflows. Students will get hands-on with industry-relevant gear as they learn the technical foundations of capturing high-quality footage. They will practice camera operation, exposure control, focus pulling, three-point lighting setups, framing and compoisition, audio capture, and on-set roles such as director and cinematographer. Finally, through hands-on editing exercises, students will discover how to piece together their footage to tell a compelling story. By the end of the camp, they will feel confident in making films, whether they are working independently or collaborating in groups.
Objectives
Execute the three stages of Film Production
Develop a narrative through brainstorming and storyboarding
Encourage camaraderie and set etiquette during filming
Utilize filmmaking gear: digital cameras, lights, tripods, and microphones
Collaborate with peers to dress the set, create costumes and props, scout locations, and produce the final edit

Ethan is a Full Sail University film graduate and educator with experience across film production, video creation, photography, gaming, and esports. His multidisciplinary background allows him to introduce students to a wide range of creative media while making technical concepts accessible and engaging. He fosters an exploratory learning environment where creators can experiment, collaborate, and find their artistic voice through practical, project-based experiences.
