Spring Break Workshops offer unique, limited experiences similar to our traditional paid single-session educational programs designed to introduce practical skills, techniques, and workflows of leading Technology, Entertainment, and Media industries. Student learning is collaborative, hands-on, and project-based, providing them full creative control of their own exploration, design, and project development.

A 1-hour lunch break is built into the schedule for students. Students are responsible for bringing their own lunch, beverages, and snacks. Also includes two 15-minute breaks.

STOP MOTION ANIMATION

KIDS - Ages 7-12

This hands-on Stop Motion workshop is perfect for young filmmakers and animators alike. Stop Motion animation is the art of making everyday objects and toys come to life through the illusion of motion. To achieve this, students will take a still photo, move their subject a tiny amount, take another photo, and repeat 16-32 times to capture a motion. When played back in a video, it looks like the subject is moving without any assistance! Students will be exploring the fundamentals of filmmaking, animation, and the Stop Motion Studio application on IOS/Android.

Hardcore parkour! In this educational workshop, students will be designing challenging jump puzzles while utilizing the mechanics of Minecraft: Java Edition. Jump puzzles and abilities are common in video games, and we’ll be learning how to emulate those experiences. We’ll be diving into what makes a parkour level difficult by breaking down example courses, learning what blocks and spacings they used, and implement those techniques into our own challenges. At the end of the day, students will have a chance to try their classmates' projects and provide feedback!

ROBOTICS PROGRAMMING

KIDS - Ages 7-12

Robotics is an exciting field of study that combines engineering and technology to create intelligent machines to assist humans. In this course, students will explore the exciting world of robotics by learning how to program basic actions for robots using a block-based coding platform. They will gain hands-on experience with essential coding concepts such as loops and functions to design and control the robot’s behavior. Students will write code that enables the robot to navigate an obstacle course while utilizing its various functions. To put their skills to the test, students will compete to see who can guide their robot through the course the fastest, showcasing their programming skills, logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork.
